Mon 11th February 2019

As the Galway International Rally wraps up, Alastair and Gordon come away with championship points. We asked Alastair to give us the run down:

"We settled into the rhythm from the word go on Sunday morning, the car was working well and the notes were flowing. The conditions on the opening loop were challenging with the added factor of the unknown in relation to what was around the next corner. We were very pleased with our pace over the opening loop, setting aside a small spin of SS3 which cost us 8 - 10 seconds and ultimately the lead of the rally going into the first service.

We found ourselves 3rd OA and 6 seconds off the lead following SS3. We consolidated our pace over the second loop of three stages, setting consistent times, just losing a further 6 seconds over the loop too Craig and arriving into the final service in 2nd OA. The roads were drying but the stages were still strewn in mud so we decided to stick with safe option of the wet tyre for the final loop. Although we felt it compromised our pace on SS7 & SS8 which would have been better suited to the intermediate option.

A quickest time on the final stage was a positive finish to the event to compliment our 2nd overall. It was great to be back out and on the pace whilst feeling comfortable across the event. We now look forward to the flowing roads of the West Cork rally in a few weeks."

The West Cork Rally will be held on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th March 2019.
