Modern Tyre Service Back In The Driving Seat For Mourne Rally

At a press launch today at Modern Tyre Service in Newry, Des O’Loan from Newry and District Motor Club announced that Modern Tyre Service have renewed their sponsorship for this year’s event. Modern Tyre Service who have two depots in Newry and a total of 26 depots in have recently completed an extension to their current facilities in Carnbane. Three new car bays along with new offices and added storage space for the extensive stock that needs to be carried are a welcome addition. The Club will use this hub as their headquarters during the event.

The rally will take place on Saturday the 7th June starting at 10.00am from Modern Tyre Service in Carnbane Industrial Estate. The drivers will then tackle 12 stages that include familiar classics including Slieve Gullion, Camlough and Cooley Mountain stages. Centralised servicing will be held in Carnbane Industrial Estate with the rally finishing at the Carrickdale Hotel where the prize giving will be held. The event is round 4 of the McAree Engineering Border Championship and round 5 of the Pacenotes Northern Ireland Rally Championship and the club is expecting a full entry with over 100 rally cars including some of the quickest drivers in . Scrutiny will take place at the premises of Modern Tyre Service in Carnbane Industrial Estate on Friday 6th June from 6pm which will be open to the public. Rallying in the Newry area has never been stronger and we expect at least 25 local rally crews to participate in the event which will be recorded for possible broadcast on international satellite channels.

Commenting at the launch Stephen Shaw Sales and Marketing Manager for Modern Tyre Service said “We are delighted to be involved in sponsoring the rally for the second year and hope that we can continue to raise its profile in conjunction with the Newry and District Motor Club. Our sponsorship deal means we can continue to raise our association with rallying in the province while providing an excellent opportunity to remind local motorists of the professional service provided by Modern Tyre Service through our network of depots which includes two based in Newry”.
